Playing recital cassetes in mosque (muhlis)

I intended to write this paper after reading jakarta post.com a really hot issue in regard to banning recital cassetes in mosque by vice president ( JK ). His statement requested mosques in Indonesia not to play cassettes of Quran recitals and intentionally broadcast it through the mosques. By banning mosques from using loudspeakers for playing recital cassetes and Qur’an recitation may pose different assumption among socities. This essay is going to discuss about wheather amplifiers for making purposes can be allowed or no in islamic perception.

Jk statement which forbids playing cassettes of Quran recitals at the mosque became trending topic in soscial media a few days ago. According to him playing the Quran recital tapes was quite disturbing and just making noise pollution. Indeed, in Indonesia there are many Muslims, and the mosques are built adjacent, so before dawn every mosque will play recital cassettes and the voice will be noisy.

Furthermore, Quran recitals sound of mosques derived from tapes. it was not the person whom read it, but the tapes. So how religion perceives this case. If someone reads Quran, it could be rewarded. If the tape, it couldn’t be rewarded. This is an anology that the writer make it. Recitation played through the tapes with loudspeakers at mosques losing the essence of worships. Only the sound of adzan which allowed in every mosque by using loudspeakers or amplifiers.

On the other side, using recital cassetes at the mosque is needed by society because prople still need to be reminded for waking-up earlier. Oftentimes some mosques are to be broadcasted verses of Qur’an in the mosque. Thus, worshippers wake up quickly. In addition to the dawn of time, recording the verses of the Qur'an are also often played to remind people who are negligent due to hectic with world activities. These things have run years in indonesia, and that is a positive thing.

As the closing of this paper. Playing recital cassetes in mosque has sparked debates in a number of muslim majorities over the noise caused by the amplifications, particularly during Ramadan. Both goverment and the other muslim organizations may talk about this thing in order to avoid misunderstanding in the surrounding communities. Althought it seems trivial but important to resolve together.
