IRONY CUP ADIPURA MAKASSAR (Agus Putra Gowa)

Makassar City finally won Adipura Cup after 15 years of waiting. Mayor of Makassar, llham Arief Sirajuddin receive trophies in the category of direct metropolitan cleaner, greener, and healthier at 10 June 2013 in Jakarta. After arriving in Makassar, this trophy paraded around town for a few days. Makassar society then “forced” to do the welcome “performance” by filling the street with joyful shouting.
Currently, Adipura may be a pride for the Government of Makassar who has claimed successful hygiene, but not for the majority of citizens who are the residents of Makassar. Makassar still strewn with rubbish scattered and do not have trash or garbage containers. Not only that, Adipura achieved today is very contradictory to the conditions in the Department of Hygiene and Makassar who complained about the lack of a fleet of garbage. Due to lack of junk cars, we often encounter a lot of garbage strewn in the Daeng City is not accommodated in the trash and not transported to the landfill.
Adipura also inconsistent with the fact that 1.4 million people in Makassar produce 570 tons of garbage per day. While the City Government through the Department of Parks and Makassar Cleanliness is only capable of transporting 400 tons per day to landfills (landfill) waste. The rest were left scattered on the road, ditches, and canals.
Adipura motorcade along the city of Makassar also have exploited the teachers and students. The teachers and students from elementary schools and junior high schools “forced” to welcome the award that Makassar did not deserve to obtain with the current conditions. Verse Cup euphoria is like a circus show which desperately needs the excitement and audience applauses.
