ISLAMOPHOBIA (Sulaiman)

Islam religion has developed entire world. In America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia every year population of Muslim grows faster than other religion. Many people convert to Muslim because they want to learn more about Islam. Despite Islam has been liked by many people, in other side there are few people fear Islam or Islamophobia. They dislike all Muslim. Their paranoid emerge because there are many incidents involve Muslim people like incident of WTC (World Trade Centre) in September 11^th.

Terrorism issue is one of factor that causes Islamophohia. WTC attacks had given a negative stigma for many people in America and some countries because there are many victims over this incident. Although few people assume that is a part of conspiracy to overturn Islam.

Islamophobia has mushroomed in Europe and America. It was listed as a form of intolerance. Hatred and dread of Islam stimulate discrimination, for example in the airport. Securities suspicious on Muslim people, rigorous investigation always happen over Muslim people in the airport. Muslim people also get discrimination in public services. Few Muslim even change their name so that they get good treatment, they also hard to get a job because of their identity as Muslim.

I think lslamophobia emerge because misunderstanding about Islam values, some people only assume that Islam is a radical religion. Islam is a part of terrorist, Islam identical with jihadist. That paradigm should be eliminated with explanation about Islamic values.

To conclude, Islamophobia is an irrational fear. As Muslim, we bear the obligation to explain about Islam values so that people can accept the existence of Islam in their life.
